Attach a "safety belt" to the tire

2026-04-15

The icy and snowy roads are highly prone to causing vehicles to skid, which in turn can lead to traffic accidents. To ensure driving safety, many drivers have begun to consider using the important safety equipment - anti-skid chains for car tires.

When choosing the appropriate anti-skid chains, several key factors need to be considered. Firstly, the material is an important determining factor. Rubber chains are favored for their softness, low noise, and minimal damage to the tires and road surface, although they are relatively expensive. Corded chains offer a moderate price and certain durability, but their durability is relatively weak. Steel anti-skid chains are known for their durability and sturdiness, but they are heavier. Secondly, size is also a factor that cannot be ignored. Ensuring that the anti-skid chains match the size of the vehicle's tires is a prerequisite for a safe and stable installation. Quality is also important. High-quality anti-skid chains have strong chain links, tight connections, and fine workmanship, with no obvious flaws. Finally, brand is another factor to consider when choosing anti-skid chains. Choosing anti-skid chains from well-known brands ensures better quality and more reliable after-sales service.

Next, let's learn how to install anti-skid chains correctly. Before installation, make sure to park the vehicle on a flat and safe area, engage the handbrake, and place a warning sign. Also, ensure that the vehicle has been cleaned thoroughly, especially the tires and the chassis, to avoid any debris or dirt affecting the tightness of the anti-skid chains. The installation steps include opening and flattening the anti-skid chains, passing them through from the rear of the wheel, securing the inner side of the tire's notch, then adjusting the position of the chains and fixing the notches on the top and bottom.

When using anti-skid chains, there are some important points to keep in mind. Firstly, the anti-skid chains should be installed in advance, rather than being installed while the vehicle is stopped. This is because installing the chains while the vehicle is parked is not only troublesome but also not conducive to safety. When installing and removing the anti-skid chains, the vehicle should be parked in a safe area and traffic warning signs should be set up if necessary. Secondly, after installing the anti-skid chains, the vehicle should be driven at a low speed to avoid sudden acceleration and emergency braking. Generally, the driving speed after installing the anti-skid chains should not exceed 40 km/h. During driving, the tightness of the anti-skid chains should be checked regularly to ensure driving safety. If any abnormal sounds or sensations occur during driving, the vehicle should be stopped immediately for inspection. Finally, when it is not necessary to use the anti-skid chains, they should be removed in time to avoid unnecessary damage to the tire lifespan.
